Alec has represented management in several successful and high-profile employment cases. He has first-chair trial experience in both the state and federal courts throughout the country, as well as before the National Labor Relations Board, the U.S. Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, and the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings.
He represents clients in a variety of industries, including construction, manufacturing, transportation and agribusiness.
Beyond litigation, Alec provides ongoing counseling and training to employers regarding human resource management, employee relations strategies, and the avoidance of employment-related disputes and liability. He provides guidance on a wide range of employment law and labor relations matters including union avoidance, collective bargaining, harassment and discrimination, workers compensation, unfair labor practice proceedings and arbitration.
Alec also has experience in the legislative arena, having testified in front of the Minnesota legislature and lobbied and advocated on behalf of employers at both the state and federal levels.
In all his client representations, Alec’s goal is to preserve his client’s time and ability to keep their business moving forward.
Alec is a frequent lecturer on labor and employment matters at seminars, training conferences and continuing legal education seminars. He is certified as a specialist in labor and employment law by the Minnesota State Bar Association and was a contributing author to its Labor and Employment Section newsletter for five years. Alec is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM) and is a frequent speaker at SHRM events.
