The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a large toll on the mental health of Americans. This presentation will help you understand some of the challenges that employees and employers face in the workplace, specifically as it pertains to mental health, and ways to navigate these challenges. We will discuss ways to identify employees who are struggling, ways to offer support, and ideas for how to fight mental health stigma in the workplace.
Psychiatrist Lauren Phillips, M.D., of Rochester, Minn., began practicing at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in February 2022. Dr. Phillips provides psychiatric care across the lifespan and treats patients with schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, hallucinations, post-traumatic stress disorder, insomnia and sleeping problems, and addiction to gambling, drugs, alcohol and certain behaviors. A graduate of the University of Nevada-Reno School of Medicine, where she earned membership to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Dr. Phillips recently completed a four-year general psychiatry residency at Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education. Her training included management of patients with a wide variety of psychopathology in numerous settings. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience, for which she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Nevada-Reno. Dr. Phillips was Vice President of her medical school class and has experience as a psychiatry clerkship didactic instructor, psychiatry supplemental instruction leader, medical student supplemental instruction leader, and as an anatomy and physiology lab teaching assistant. She is a member of the American Medical Association, Minnesota Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, and Minnesota Psychiatric Association. She has also volunteered as a founding board member for Duwell International, a non-profit organization focused on improving healthcare infrastructure in Bangladesh, and as an organizer and trip leader for the Nicaragua Medical Brigade. Outside of her practice, Dr. Phillips enjoys spending time with her family, boating, wake-surfing, fishing, hiking, biking, camping, national parks, dogs, reading and travel.
